In an unregulated industry,
who are you going to trust with your dog?
At Cowichan Canine we provide modern, science-based training for dogs by accredited instructors. This means positive reinforcement methods only, using rewards like food, treats and play. We do not use aversive methods or harsh corrections or subscribe to outmoded and discredited concepts such as dominance theory.
Established in 2009 and with over 3,000 clients to date, we have a purpose-built training facility in Cobble Hill, BC, and offer a range of services.
Our classes help puppies and young dogs get the best possible start in life, as well as dogs of all ages gain a foundation of good manners in our Puppy Start Right and our Pet Manners classes. You can further develop the bond with your dog via a variety of fun, enrichment activities such as for example our supervised play groups, Canine Good Neighbour/Advanced Pet Manners, Agility, and Scent Detection.
We offer small, personalized classes, workshops and seminars, and private training and behaviour modification consultations with a certified behaviour consultant.
We are accredited by the BC SPCA's AnimalKind programme.
We are active in the community and support the following not-for-profit organizations and activities:
Cowichan Canine Dog Bite Prevention Education
PACTA BC (Professional Animal Care and Training Association of BC)

Hi Lisbeth,
Just wanted to let you know Wylie’s emergency recall works! We came across two unleashed dogs on a hike yesterday and he went over the edge unfortunately- tore the leash out of my hand and ran away into the woods.
I took a tumble in the process and by the time I got up he was out of sight. Pulled out the whistle, called him repeatedly and after what seemed like ages he came to me!
We will never leave the house without my whistle ad sardines…thank you so much!

Last week I had to take True to the vet because he had an ear infection. He bounced into the office with me as if he was going to the park, he was friendly with the girls at the front desk. We went in the examination room and he was fine, happily sniffing every square inch of the floor. He was happy to see the vet and even though his ear was sore he didn't do anything when she swabbed it. True didn't enjoy having his anal glands expelled but he didn't struggle or make a peep. I was so proud of him. The vet said she was amazed at how well behaved he was and how he had come such a long way, and she complimented me on my training. Thank you so much for all your help.
