Online Training
Live online dog training lessons are appropriate for the same issues as in-person, in-home dog training, and can be chosen for convenience or to save money. It is particularly suitable during an epidemic, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, when in-person consultations are not an option.
You get the same expert training advice with our in-person training
Just like with an in-person, in-home lesson, we go through the same steps:
- Behaviour Questionnaire and analysis
- Behaviour Modification goals and priorities
- Educational materials
- Homework
Instead of practical demonstration with your dog, your instru.ctor will demonstrate with her own dog, and then supervise your copying the exercise with your own dog.
After the lessons, you will receive written instructions and educational materials as and when appropriate. At the conclusion and if appropraite, your veterinarian may receive a letter of information, outlining what we have been working on, or we may decide together that communication or consultation with your veterinarian at other times during our work together would be appropriate.
Advantages
- No tech savvy needed (all you need is a computer/ laptop/ tablet with camera and microphone).
- Honours social distancing.
- If your dog is worried about strangers, he won't be during online training.
- We can see behaviours that may not occur when there is a stranger in the house.
- You don't have to travel.
- Stay in your PJs!
- No face masks needed!

Amazing is the only way we can describe the transformation with our very reactive dog. Levi, our 5 year old Duck Toller, had taken the Foundations training and walked nicely on a leash. However he started to react to bikes and it got worse as time went by. When he saw a bike go by our happy-go-lucky dog turned into a monster. He would bark, lunge, and do the famous 'duck toller scream'. He was totally uncontrollable. We were very much afraid that if he ever got off leash he would attack the cyclist. It was very stressfull for both us and Levi.
We decided to ask Lisbeth for help. With a few private lessons and practice Levi is a changed dog. The other day a cyclist came up behind us and rode within two feet of Levi and he only turned his head to look for a treat. Amazing! We can't thank you enough Lisbeth and Levi thanks you too.

Louie and I just completed the Puppy Start Right program with Stef at Cowichan Canine, and what a fabulous experience. PSR covers all the basics, with carefully curated play sessions, exposure to various sounds and things from our human world, training tips, and lots of practical advice. Stef is kind and very experienced and has helped me to remember that these crazy first months of puppyhood - with the constant vigilance, all the peeing and biting, and the early wakeup calls - will pass, and is just part of the journey to a well-trained socialized dog. I will always remember how Louie passed out in the car on the way home from class: happy, tired and snoring ever so slightly. Thanks Stef, I cannot imagine doing this without Cowichan Canine.
